Vacancy Announcement

Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) is a non-governmental organisation which advocates for a transformed Tanzanian society where there is gender equality, equity and social justice. The overall objective is building a feminist social movement that is capable of engaging, challenging and claiming changes in policies, institutional structures and processes at all levels for social gender transformation and women’s empowerment. TGNP’s main strategies are policy analysis and research, training and capacity building, information, lobbying and advocacy, coalition building and networking.

TGNP seeks to recruit suitable and qualified candidates for the vacant positions listed below. For all posts, we are looking for persons with:
a) commitment to gender, women empowerment, social justice and human rights issues,
b) commitment to team work and participatory approaches
c) motivation with strong interpersonal relations.

1. Senior Programme Officer - Capacity Building and Marketing (1 position)

Responsibilities: Overall responsible for the designing, execution (including publicity/marketing) of GTI – Centre for Feminist Leadership programme activities, outputs and impacts. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of quality gender training products and services, monitoring and impact tracking. Develops and updates training manuals and materials, tools and methodologies for enhancing feminist, animation gender capacities of development actors at different levels within and outside the country. Responsible for identifying, developing, strengthening, expanding of the base of resource persons / trainers and facilitators. Responsible for the strengthening and developing linkages with clients, peer Gender Training Institutions and other strategic actors/institutions for the promotion of GTI activities.

Key Qualifications and experience:-
 Minimum of a Masters Degree in social sciences or equivalent plus course work in training and management of training institutions
 Training and facilitation experiences for minimum 2-3 years.
 Experiences in working in training institutions, training processes and curriculum development.
 Course work on gender or women’s studies
 Relevant experience of 3-5 years of working with gender and development issues.
 Inter-personal relationships and marketing and publicity skills.
 MS word, power point, excel and e-mail and internet

Key Competencies
 Capacity in the management of training institutions.
 Capacity in training curriculum, manuals and materials development.
 Good writing and presentational skills.
 Coaching/mentoring ability.
 Communication, spoken and written in Kiswahili and English.
 Computer literacy in word, power point, excel and e-mail and internet
 Gender and feminist analysis.
 Strong public-speaking skills.
 Participatory facilitation and community animation.


2. Course Trainer – (2 positions)

Responsibilities: Develop/ review training materials and carry out training
Key Qualifications and experience:-
 Minimum of a Masters Degree in Education, Gender Studies or related fields.
 Minimum of 3 years experience in Gender training or related field

Key Competencies
 Skill in material development.
 Skills and exposure to participatory facilitation and community animation.
 Demonstrate skills in preparing, delivering and assessing students work.
 Excellent organizational skills required; experience with project management tools and techniques preferred.
 Excellent oral, written and presentation skills required for interaction with faculty and staff, as well as subject matter experts.
 Problem solving and interpersonal skills.
 Prioritize and meet agreed upon deadlines.
 Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
 Gender and feminist analysis.
 Strong public-speaking skills.


3. Senior Programme Officer – Analysis and Research (1 position)

Responsibilities: Coordinate and conduct analysis and research based on transformative feminism, participatory action research and animation approaches, for the design, planning, implementation and monitoring of policy analysis and research within the programme and in support of other programmes in relation to TGNP initiatives.

Key Qualifications and experience:-
 Minimum of a Masters Degree in social sciences with specialization in analysis and research.
 Minimum of 5 years experience in research and community development.
 Experience in gender and feminist analysis will be an added advantage.

Key Competencies
 Critical analysis and action research.
 Gender and feminist analysis.
 Monitoring and evaluation.
 Participatory facilitation and community animation.
 Computer literacy (Office systems and data analysis packages).
 Strong public-speaking skills.

4. Senior Programme Officer – Monitoring and Evaluation (1 position)

Responsibilities: Overseeing and facilitating the planning, co-ordination of programs/project activities, formulation of programs/project proposals, implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities, including setting up/updating monitoring systems, procedures and processes for the organisation, undertaking the reporting for the organisation and, providing technical assistance of the same to other programmes within TGNP.

Key Qualifications and experience:-
• Masters degree in Social sciences, preferably with specialization in applied research methods and evaluation, including formal training in project management (M&E).
• Working experiences of at least 5 years of work in similar position in the following areas:
o Logical framework, result based management, planning and evaluation methodologies.
o Proven capacity for participatory designing, development programs/project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
o Ability to design participatory M&E systems and utilization including report writing.
o Some knowledge of statistics and database management would be important.
o Knowledge/experience in working with NGOs addressing women and human rights; gender and development would be an added advantage.
o Ability to write project proposals and fundraising.


Key Competencies
 Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and manage project programme activities.
 Proven ability to facilitate strategic planning processes/sessions.
 Good presentation skills.
 Proactive and motivated self starter with ability to promote and provide quality technical and backstopping support to a range of staff and partners.
 Excellent interpersonal skills.
 Proficiency in both written and spoken English, very good drafting skills and computer literacy.
