Vacancy Announcement


Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) is a non governmental organisation which advocates for a transformed Tanzanian society where there is gender equality, equity and social justice. The overall objective is building a feminist social movement that is capable of engaging, challenging and claiming changes in policies, institutional structures and processes at all levels for social gender transformation and women’s empowerment. TGNP’s main strategies are policy analysis and research, training and capacity building, information, lobbying and advocacy, coalition building and networking.

TGNP seeks to recruit suitable and qualified candidates for the vacant positions listed below. For all posts, we are looking for persons with: a) commitment to gender, women empowerment, social justice and human rights issues, b) commitment to team work and participatory approaches c) motivation with strong interpersonal relations.

1.0 Gender training institute (GTI) Director (Re Advertised)

Responsibilities: Providing overall Leadership and direction for the Gender Training Institute (GTI) (i.e. vision, team building, coaching & mentoring, facilitation) using high level conceptual and participatory capacities and methodological approaches in programme designing, planning, implementation and monitoring processes and in human resource management, resource mobilisation, financial accountability and administration functions for the achievement of the GTI objectives. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of quality gender training products and services, monitoring and impact evaluating. Oversee expanded development and updating GTI curriculum, training manuals and materials, tools and methodologies for enhancing feminist/gender, participatory animation, and analytical capacities of development actors at different levels within and outside the country. Responsible for strengthening and developing linkages with clients and acting as the chief spokesperson of GTI.



Key Qualifications and experience:-
• Minimum of a Masters Degree in social sciences or equivalent plus course work in training and management of training institutions
• Training and facilitation experience for minimum 3 - 5 years.
• Experiences in leading/working in training institutions and training processes
• Course work on gender or women’s studies
• Relevant experience of 3 - 5 years of working on gender and development issues.
• Inter-personal relationships and marketing management
• MS word, power point, excel and e-mail and internet

Key Competencies
• Programming skills, participatory project management of training institutions and administration;
• Financial literacy relating to budgeting, expenditure monitoring and fund raising skills
• Gender/feminist analysis and training, animation, participatory facilitation and public-speaking;
• Capacity in curriculum development, training & manual materials development
• Good writing, public speaking and presentational skills
• Coaching/mentoring ability
• Communication, spoken and written in Kiswahili and English.
• Computer literacy in word, power point, excel and e-mail and internet

2.0 Programme Officer - Capacity Building ( 1 Vacancy).

Responsibilities: Overall responsible for the designing, planning, implementation and monitoring of training programme activities, outputs and impacts. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of quality gender training products and services, monitoring and impact evaluating. Develops and updates training manuals and materials, tools and methodologies for enhancing feminist, animation gender capacities of development actors at different levels within and outside the country. Responsible for identifying, developing, strengthening, expanding of the base of resource persons / trainers and facilitators. Responsible for the strengthening and developing linkages with clients, peer Gender Training Institutions and other strategic actors/institutions for the promotion of GTI activities.

Key Qualifications and experience:-

 Experiences in working in training institutions, training processes and curriculum development.

3.0 Programme Officer Training/ Curriculum Development (1 Vacancy)

Programme responsibility
1.Advises and contributes to the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of GTI programme activities, outputs and impacts

2.Responsible for ddeveloping/strengthening curriculum materials/tools and methodologies for enhancing gender capacities of development actors at different levels within and outside the country

3.Link with all other programmes within TGNP with the objective of developing training manuals/materials tools and packages in relation to the needs of particular programmes.

4.Responsible in the formulation of project plans and budgets, and work closely with GTI Director (and other programme staff) in integrating the GTI activities in the overall programme planning and budgeting.

5.Facilitate Pre testing of curriculum, training materials /tools to ensure the development of quality materials.

6.In collaboration with M & E Officer responsible in facilitating, coordinating, organising, implementing, monitoring and evaluating activities in relation to the GTI within the programme.

7. Facilitates the development of systems and tools for enhancing the implementation, monitoring and documentation processes of the assigned activities.

8.Monitors respective work performance for efficiency, effectiveness, quality and cost-benefit as per the standards set by the organisation.

5. Job Specifications

4.0 Programme Officer Marketing and Fundraising(1Vacancy)

Programme officer marketing and fundraising will be responsible for;
1. Identify, package and market GTI training services
2. Study new areas of market for GTI services
3. Link with likeminded organizations in and outside Tanzania to market GTI
4. Develop proposals for fundraising
5. Maintain links with existing and potential funding partners
6. Design and update marketing strategies
Qualifications required
Minimum of Masters Degree in social sciences with specification in social marketing and fundraising


Key job skills requirement;

• Proposal development for fundraising
• Designing marketing materials
• Report writing
• Public speaking and presentation skills
• Communication, spoken and written in Kiswahili and English

Work experience;

• 3 year experience in marketing and fundraising from a social development perspective
